Commitment to Philanthropy

Since 1952, the company has regularly contributed to the Johnson Controls Foundation to ensure robust philanthropic support for the community. In the last ten years, Johnson Controls Foundation has provided more than $77 million to support U.S. charitable organizations.

Johnson Controls Foundation Grants

The Johnson Controls Foundation operates in the United States and supports smart, healthy and sustainable tomorrows through its philanthropic giving. The Foundation is a separate entity than Johnson Controls and has its own board of directors.

Smart and Healthy Neighborhood Grants

The Johnson Controls Foundation commits $1.2 million to help empower four United Way organizations in northwest Milwaukee communities.

Sponsorships and Events

Johnson Controls considers a limited number of sponsorships for nonprofit organizations each year, including those which have programs supported by the Johnson Controls Foundation or where Johnson Controls employees have significant volunteer engagement. Johnson Controls will also consider sponsorships from nonprofit organizations for national or global opportunities. Organizations are encouraged to submit a sponsorship request at least 90 days prior to the event.

Johnson Controls matching gifts

Matching Gift Program

Our matching gift program matches individual gifts that eligible Johnson Controls employees and retirees make to eligible nonprofit organizations that build smart, healthy and sustainable communities globally. Retirees can email for more information about how to apply for a matching gift.

Community College Partnership Program

In 2021, Johnson Controls launched a major philanthropic investment in community colleges across North America. Selected community colleges receive a significant renewable grant to support underserved population groups in disciplines such as HVAC, fire and security, and digital.
