Johnson Controls supports NRG Park sustainability goals through infrastructure upgrades
Johnson Controls and NRG Park, together with Harris County Sports & Convention Corporation (HCSCC), have embarked on a 20-year energy savings performance contract that is expected to generate—and be funded through—more than $54 million in cost savings at one of the nation's largest and busiest sports and entertainment complexes. In addition to helping Harris County reach its goal of a 40% reduction in carbon emissions by 2030, the project will generate surplus savings to be reinvested back into the Harris County community.
"Making this sustainability goal a reality through this particular project is exciting for me. This project is a huge step in the right direction and we're demonstrating to the country how committed we are here in Harris County." - Commissioner Adrian Garcia, Precinct 2, Harris County, TX
NRG Park is a 350-acre, sprawling event venue with three facilities, hosting more than 5.5 million visitors annually at more than 500 entertainment and sports events. Johnson Controls coordinated the project to minimize daily business disruptions while upgrading HVAC equipment, modernizing building automation systems (BAS), water conservation, life safety systems and lighting improvements, in addition to high-efficiency chiller upgrades and the integration of Johnson Controls OpenBlue Central Utility Plant.
