Johnson Controls has been named a “Rising Star WELL at Scale” award winner by the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI) for its efforts in advancing global healthy buildings. IWBI, the global authority for advancing healthy buildings, organizations, and communities, announced the winners of the 2024 IWBI Organizational Awards as part of its annual recognition program. Johnson Controls joins a global cohort of corporations leading the charge to revolutionize the impact buildings have on health and well-being. Collectively, these organizations represent over one billion square feet of real estate participating in the WELL program.

“The WELL movement is propelled forward by visionary organizations from across the world. This year’s honorees have inspired us with the depth of their commitments to people-first places and a healthier world for all,” said IWBI President and CEO Rachel Hodgdon.

Johnson Controls joined IWBI in April 2021, achieving the WELL Health-Safety Rating at its regional headquarters in Shanghai, China, and Glendale, Wisconsin, for four consecutive years. Employees at these headquarters benefit from enhanced emergency preparedness protocols, ensuring they are well-equipped to handle emergencies and respond quickly and effectively. Additionally, health-service resources provide employees with access to medical care and wellness programs, promoting overall mental and physical health and preventing illness. Johnson Controls extended this commitment to employee health and well-being by enrolling in IWBI's WELL at Scale program, working to apply WELL features, ratings, and certifications across the organization.

Beyond its own operations, Johnson Controls is part of the Healthy Workplaces Coalition, working with over 90 national organizations to advocate for federal policies that promote health and safety in workplaces. In addition, Johnson Controls is also a WELL Enterprise Provider, aiming to help other organizations adopt WELL’s evidence-based practices, spreading healthy building standards across industries and geographies.
