Clemson University and Johnson Controls Advance Healthy and Sustainable Buildings with New Analytics Center

Clemson University and Johnson Controls announced today the establishment of the Johnson Controls Building Analytics for Sustainability and Health Center with a nearly $3 million commitment from Johnson Controls and its Foundation to fund the Center, student scholarships and smart building research. This development positions Johnson Controls as a strategic corporate partner, which builds upon the company’s decades-long relationship with the university.

The Center will promote the importance of using analytics in achieving healthy and sustainable buildings. Located in the Watt Family Innovation Center, the center will be a multidisciplinary hub for innovation, education, outreach, and the development of student talent for the building operations industry.

A newly developed Building Analytics for Sustainability and Health Certificate will complement the Center activities. Students will have experiential learning opportunities, such as Creative Inquiry, capstone projects, and industry engagement. An annual call will be held for research projects in building analytics that will go out to the university at large. Johnson Controls is also contributing its OpenBlue Enterprise Manager, an award-winning digital solution designed to leverage a building’s data to meet sustainability goals, optimize safety and security and enhance occupant health and productivity.
