Water, Wastewater and Bioenergy

Comprehensive approaches to water resource management

Johnson Controls was one of the first organizations to develop a solution to improve water efficiency through performance-based contracts. These solutions started with water loss reduction through comprehensive water utility metering replacement projects and have extended through leak detection and reduction, wastewater energy efficiency, and biogas utilization.

We offer our customers one-stop solutions for some of the most challenging problems facing water / wastewater utilities and industrial users.  Each system is different, so Johnson Controls tailors each project to our customers’ specific needs by following this main approach:

Reduce Costs

Leverage inefficiencies by capturing and redirecting lost revenue to offset project expenses. Wasted water and wasted energy are wasted cost.

Increase Revenue

Validate and guarantee water and energy savings.

Transfer Risks

Shift risk from the utility to Johnson Controls. We ensure smooth project execution and guarantee that you achieve and maintain expected long-term benefits.

Water is what we do

The Johnson Controls Water Group supports projects across North America and specializes in five core service areas.

To provide you with the most flexibility and meet your needs, Johnson Controls can evaluate and offer a number of innovative funding solutions:

Performance Contracting
Improvements are funded through utility and operational savings, and the project savings are guaranteed over an agreed-upon term. This approach provides customer assurance that the project will meet the desired financial outcomes. In the event of a non-accrual in utility and operational savings, Johnson Controls will pay the difference.
Design Build
To encourage collaboration, expedite improvements and achieve higher-quality outcomes.
Design, Build, Own, Operate, Maintain
A step short of privatization, this model is preferred for many biogas solutions and simplifies biogas utilization projects for the producer.
Structured Finance
Offering a variety of financial solutions to suit your needs
Grants
We have a dedicated team of grant-writing specialists available to support your projects.
