Supplier Diversity
OUR COMMITMENT TO SUPPLIER DIVERSITY
Johnson Controls is a leader in supplier diversity. Since 1993, we have spent more than $22 billion with certified diverse suppliers. Globally, we have included more than 300 diverse and historically underutilized companies into more than 30 product and service procurement categories to support our customer solutions. Johnson Controls uses third-party certified-diverse suppliers that are minority-owned, woman-owned, veteran-owned, LGBTQAI+ owned and disability-owned business enterprises..
Johnson Controls’ supplier diversity program is successful because of accountability, training, and supplier diversity processes that extend into our customer and supplier networks. Supplier diversity is approached as a discipline that is not confined to one department, geography, or an elite group of star performers. All of the operational, commercial, and advanced supplier diversity activities are tied together with standardized processes company wide.
Here are some of the initiatives and processes we use to help drive supplier diversity:
Strategic Growth Opportunity Targeting
We target spending categories with large dollar volumes of goods and services in order to grow diverse firms and encourage prime suppliers to form joint ventures, strategic alliances and distributorships.
Vendors with products and services that are potentially suitable for Johnson Controls are encouraged to complete a vendor profile in order to be considered for current and future projects.

Straight Talk Sessions
Johnson Controls holds periodic "Straight Talk" orientation sessions in key cities throughout the United States. At these meetings with potential diversity vendors, the company's supplier diversity & business development team and procurement personnel explain the pre-qualification process and review active purchasing plans. Straight Talk sessions are free of charge.
The pre-qualification process is reviewed, along with active purchasing plans. Vendors with products and services that are potentially suitable for Johnson Controls are asked to complete a vendor profile.
