George Oliver, Johnson Controls chairman and CEO, recently received the 2019 Fire Department of the City of New York (FDNY) Foundation Fire Commissioner's Humanitarian Award, for the company’s continued support of the FDNY and the FDNY Foundation.

The FDNY Foundation, established in 1981, is the official not-for-profit organization of the New York City Fire Department. Its mission is to promote fire and life safety education and help the FDNY better protect New York City.

Proceeds of more than $2.6 million from the gala dinner, which honored Oliver and First Data Chairman and CEO Frank Bisignano, will be used by the FDNY Foundation to fund awareness and outreach programs for the public, training and support for FDNY members and will assist in providing the technology and equipment that helps keep the FDNY the premiere Fire Department in the world.

In his acceptance speech, Oliver highlighted the important work Johnson Controls does to support the FDNY by offering products and solutions that keep buildings safe, secure and sustainable.
