At Johnson Controls, we are dedicated to creating smarter, healthier, and more sustainable communities. Our work with the City of Toledo exemplifies this commitment. Together, we have modernized Toledo's water infrastructure through its Smart Meter Replacement Program, replacing nearly 116,000 outdated water meters with advanced smart meters.
The Role of Johnson Controls
Since 2021, Johnson Controls has provided the digital meters and customer portal software for this project. Despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have successfully installed over 109,000 smart meters.
Benefits for the Community
The new smart meters offer real-time water usage data, helping residents manage consumption and identify leaks, leading to cost savings and water conservation. This project also eliminates the need for manual readings, improving service reliability.
A Model for Other Cities
Toledo's smart meter project, one of the largest citywide meter conversions by Johnson Controls, serves as a model for other cities. Funded through a performance-based contract, the $85.7 million initiative guarantees $177 million in savings over 20 years.
Celebrating Success
As we near the project's completion, we celebrate the collaboration and hard work that made it possible.
At Johnson Controls, we are proud to be part of Toledo's journey towards a smarter, more sustainable future.
