Johnson Controls nurtures a high-performance culture with inclusivity, support and recognition. Through several programs, the company is supporting its veteran employees from around the world:
- Working with the Veterans Skillbridge program sponsored by the Department of Defense (DoD) through a partnership with Hiring Our Heroes, to allow active-duty service members to participate in on-the-job training at a corporate civilian company.
- A global Veterans Engagement Team (VET) employee resource group that honors, connects, and supports military veterans from around the world.
Honoring Veterans at Johnson Controls
The VET group leads Veterans Day celebrations in the U.S. and beyond and this year the team developed a playbook for local offices to lead their own celebrations with pictures and stories of local veterans who served. The company will also have a flag display at its U.S. headquarters in Milwaukee and donation opportunities have been set up through the company giving platform to help employees easily support organizations that are helping veterans live normal lives as they re-integrate in society.
Outside of the United States the UK&I VET chapter director Craig Mills, an operations manager in the Johnson Controls UK&I HVAC-R team and Cadet Forces Adult Forces Commanding Officer of a UK Royal Air Force Air Cadet Squadron, led a parade on Remembrance Sunday (held on Nov. 10, 2024) along with 70 cadets and hundreds of veterans and civilians in the Midlands area of the United Kingdom. Alongside this, Stephen Crawshaw-Bowen, a Johnson Controls engineer and British Army Infantry veteran, is running five miles every day for 32 days - 160 miles in total - to raise funds for the Royal British Legion, a vital charity that supports veterans in the United Kingdom.
“I am incredibly proud to lead a dedicated and motivated committee that tirelessly provides resources, benefits, activities, and programs designed to inspire and enhance camaraderie among veterans and veteran supporters worldwide. With local chapters spanning across five regions, we are committed to being the employer of choice for veterans and their supporters, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for all,” said Cody Lueck, President of the Veterans Engagement Team.
